It's best to contact us directly about current availability and upcoming breeding plans. Inquiring individuals and families will be asked to complete our puppy application. Once approved, you'll be given the option to place a deposit or join our waitlist.
We maintain an ongoing waitlist. It is not uncommon for homes to wait multiple months or years for one of our puppies. Litters are announced well in advance and many times reserve before birth. We're not a large volume breeder and do not have puppies available more than once or twice per year.
You may find that prices vary between kennels and other breeders' lines. Our puppies start at $3000. Our prices reflect the excellent quality of our dogs, preservation of their lines and the extra attention we pour into our program that many other breeders do not. Prices are non-negotiable. Additional, at-cost fees are required for ear cropping and transportation. Co-own puppy prices may vary based based on specific contract terms and agreements.
The deposit to join our waitlist is $500. This fee is voluntary, non-refundable and fully transferable between litters. This guarantees your place in the current puppy selection order; pet puppies are chosen in the order deposits are received. This fee is applied to the final purchase balance.
We pride ourselves on going above and beyond when it comes to health testing. Our dogs are health tested prior to any breeding plans. Genetic health tests include heart, hips, elbows, patellas, thyroid, eyes, ALPP, Cerebellar Ataxia and more. An AKC DNA profile, Embark health panel and color trait test is also completed. These results help us determine the best breeding pairs for the future.
We do not charge extra or breed for any specific coat color or pattern. While color is not a primary focus here, we produce mainly red, fawn, sable and blue fawn dogs. We occasionally have brindle and black puppies available. Markings vary between every litter and each individual puppy. Our dogs consistently have very strong, dark pigmentation and healthy skin and coats.
Puppies are evaluated and selected no sooner than eight weeks of age. We assist all homes in choosing the right puppy for their family's needs, goals and overall lifestyle. Puppies are not selected based on color or marking as this is the least important factor in proper placement. We ask homes to keep an open mind and trust our knowledge when choosing the best fit.
We do not sell any dogs sight unseen and offer a number of transportation options. Long-distance ground delivery and flight nanny services are available. Homes are strongly encouraged to pick their puppy up from us in person whenever possible. Airline cargo is no longer a stateside option and weight requirements apply for in-cabin travel. Worldwide shipping can be arranged.
We do not encourage littermates or puppies close in age to be placed together. The risk of puppies developing poor behavioral habits or resource guarding can be much higher when raised together. We feel it is always best to focus on developing one puppy successfully before adding another. Exceptions may be made for highly experienced owners, hobbyists or other breeders.
Puppies are sent home with AKC registration, initial vaccines and deworming, AKC Reunite microchip, health certificate and vet records, negative fecal, sire and dam's genetic health results and a custom puppy pack. Homes receive a box filled with our favorites, some essentials and a binder with useful information, training tips and puppy records. Pups also come with a lifetime of breeder support.
Pet puppies are sold on spay or neuter contract and must be altered at an appropriate, healthy age. Show and breeding potential puppies are available only on co-ownership. Co-owned dogs are not considered breeding quality until all appropriate health testing and contractual requirements have been met.
All owners will be required to sign our purchase agreement. Pet puppies are placed on spay or neuter contract with limited AKC registration. Show and breeding homes must agree to our co-ownership terms. A copy of our contract and puppy deposit agreement will be supplied for review during the application process.
Inquiring homes are welcome to visit and meet our dogs. For the health and safety of our animals and their environment, we do not allow outside animals to attend these visits. Children and family members are always welcome.
For the health and security of our dogs, home and family members, we have limited puppy visits at this time. Exceptions are sometimes made for socialization purposes. Owners are provided weekly photo and video content and growth updates. We can also schedule video chats with the puppies in real time.
While our Am Staffs can typically coexist in multi-dog and mixed species homes, some ultimately thrive best in a single dog or animal household. This breed can exhibit dog selectiveness or aggression, same-sex aggression and varying levels of prey drive anywhere from low to very high. Proper, ongoing socialization is extremely important. Only consider an Am Staff if you are willing to handle these specific breed traits and challenges. If you own multiple pets and are not willing to adopt a lifelong crate and rotate lifestyle, this breed may not be for you.
This breed makes wonderful companions for families with children. Pups and children should both be shown and taught clear boundaries with one another; constant supervision is a must. Children should never be left unsupervised with an Am Staff at any age. Am Staffs are often energetic and can be unknowingly rough as pups and young adults. With consistent training and proper socialization they can become very well-mannered and loyal pets for children of all ages.
Am Staffs are energetic, fun loving and fiercely loyal companions. They are a versatile do-all type of dog, forever by your side and always up for an adventure. Terriers can be very determined, stubborn, feisty and tenacious. Am Staffs do best with confident owners who understand and respect their individual needs. They require training, consistent routine, room to exercise and plenty of socialization. Am Staffs are intelligent, driven dogs that can come with challenges; they are not the best choice for inexperienced dog owners. We are happy to help determine if this breed is the right fit for you.
While we receive many requests for service prospects, we do not sell puppies or adults with the intention or guarantee that they will become successful service or support dogs. We do not allow false registration of dogs to gain access to housing and establishments. This breed does not typically make good prospects due to their exuberant friendliness, prey drive, dog selectivity and BSL factors. We suggest seeking a different breed if a true service animal is needed.
